Woody Tells All...

Woody here.  Remember me...Mom and Pop brought me inside the house from the cat shelter cuz Al was picking on me?  Well, I am out of my kennel now and busy exploring this new place.  I don't know any of the cats here except Tabitha but they all seem nice enough.  At least no one is picking on me.  I can get a fresh start and reinvent myself!  I like the bedroom and bathroom with the windows to see out.  I can watch the cat shelter where my brothers are.  I really like TV - so fun to watch all the colors and moving things on it.

I still want to find good hidy place but  don't think I fit under here.  I like when Pop pest me but then I get too excited and want to find someplace quiet to regroup. I think I'll go under the bed for a while.

This is me last night letting Pop snuggle with me on the bed. I even let Mom pet me too. This place may not be so bad after all.  And I keep running into Rosa under the bed and behind the sofa.  Maybe we can be friends.

Mom wanted me to tell you what happened around here after Thanksgiving.  It has been a wild weekend - with me moving inside and then then Thanksgiving.  On Friday we had high winds and the phone lines went down and the Internet too.  On top of this Mom has had to go to work 8 days straight cuz someone was out - boy is she pooped!  Today is cool and rainy and we are all just gonna stay home and snuggle with Mom, watch TV and nap!  What are you doing today?

We are joining Cats on Tuesday!  And if you haven't already, please stop by our friends at Hubblespacepaws - they lost their sweet Winnie.  Click on the pic on the sidebar to go there.

Thankful on Tuesday

Mom's friend Sallie gave us her old kitty condo for or catio!  She has two cats and they don't play with this anymore so she thought we would like to have it.  Wow we love this condo. It has four spots to hang out - two cubby holes and two platforms.

Mom was worried us guys would pee on it if it smelled like other cats and she couldn't find our Feliway so she sprinkled catnip all over it.  Al was the first to sniff it out and came over for a closer look.

He gets a little wild with nip!  Mom cleaned the condo up outside but trailed some leaves in with it.  Al is wearing some leaves too.

Pretty soon he got nipped out, going off to watch the birdies and chipmunks (it's even more fun when you are stoned on nip) and we all went to check this new furniture out. Whoo hoo...nip and on every level!

Two Spot in a cubbyhole.

Sam in the tube.
Pretty soon we were all bouncing off the walls and running wildy everyhwere.  Two Spot is hyper anyway so he was just running straight up the condo!  Doesn't he look a little crazy?

This a great surprise and we are loving it.  We all sit on it everyday.  When one of us gets off the other gets in that spot.  So far no fights!  All together now kitties--- "Thank you Auntie Sallie!"

Your help needed urgently
We want to help these two kitties who are facing death by gas chamber - please donate or pass this on - Pogo and Ping Pong!

Tabitha on Tabby Tuesday

Here I am playing a fun game. It's called "attack Mom's feets under the covers." It's a lot of fun bu sometimes I guess I get carried away.
"
"What Mom?" "Don't Bite" she says. But that's the best part - that along with bunny kicking the feets. Oh well I guess I have to settle for cuddles and scritches instead. Have a great day ya'll!

Tortie Tuesday

Hi everybody...Chica here today. I just want to set the record straight about me. I may be 19 but I still get around. I don't sleep all day as most of you might think! I love to play with my egg in the bed with Mom.

I keep Tabitha company and help her clean herself. She is still lonely being the last one to come inside. I think she misses her momcat.

I help Mom with the computer. I sit in her lap sometimes when she is working and help with the keyboard or I just snoopervise from the desk top. I like to lick her hands when she is typing (which drives her nuts) heeheehee.

I love to play and go to our toy box and pick out my favorite toy to play with. I like my mousy and the little jingle balls best.

So you see I live quite an active life for my age. I also like to watch the goats across the street and keep an eye on things outside.

Have a great day and please visit Gattina for Cats on Tuesday. Oh and Mom wants to thank you all for the nice comments on our blog's new look!

Feeding Frenzy

Whenever Mom has a bagel with butter and cream cheese on it for breakfast she is surrounded by us cats begging for a bite. She usually sits in the living room and tries to watch the news on TV but...

We won't leave her alone, begging, tapping with our paws..until she gives us a delicious bit of cream cheese on the tip of her finger to lick off. The usual crew is Minnie, Joey, Ivy, Yoko and Chica. The elder kitties, Chica and Yoko, get first lick of course. For some reason little Sweepea slept through it all this morning!

Excuse the fuzzy blurry pictures..Mom was trying to take photos one handed! Hope you enjoyed our feeding frenzy! For more kitty posts join in with Gattina for Cats on Tuesday!

Toesie Tuesday

Darby sleeps in the most convoluted positions. I don't know how she is able to breathe sometimes. And she does snore with whistles and and groans - most of the time when she is sleeping with her head buried!

Aren't those toes cute? For more cat stories visit Cats on Tuesday.
Mom wants to apologize for not visiting everyone as often...she is working, taking care of us, managing her booth at the antique mall and working in the yard with Pop in the garden...not much time to work on the puter! She will try to come by once a week so don't give up on her.

Tabby Tortie Tuesday

Hello, this is Chica the tortie in this post. I am the senior cat of the group here...will be 19 this summer. I prefer to be alone or with Mom. I guess I would have liked to be the only cat but...Mom has to help all the poor strays and ferals!

Tabby Tabitha is the newest to come in the house. She is five and very sweet but awfully lonely. I think she misses her Mom Lily (who lives out in the super shelter we have) but Al was picking on Tabitha so much we had to bring her inside with us.

When it is time for the beans to go to bed, I get up there for some cuddle time with Mom. Tabitha thinks she can horn in on that and siddles up to me on her tummy hoping I will give her a cleaning.

Sometimes I do but not for very long.... Tabitha just about throws herself at me...how can I resist?

That is enough for tonight Tabitha. Now I just vant to be left alone!

Trading Places with Al and Two Spot

Two Spot here..even tho our days are warm and sunny the nights are still cold so Mom has left the plastic cover up on our screen porch. On really warm days she pulls down the corners and opens up the vent doors for us to get fresh air. I got myself a good spot here on the cage - great view of the birdfeeder!

Uh oh, here comes that scapegrace, Al. I don't like to mess with him. He wants my spot I bet!

Yup - he thinks he can just take whatever he wants! I don't want to fight about it today - I am a lover cat not a fighter! I'll find another spot and Al can have this one. Anything for peace.

Al surveys his kingdom at Wildcat Woods.

Today's new word for the day is

scapegrace\SKAYP-grayss\ , noun;
1.A reckless, unprincipled person; one who is wild and reckless; a rascal; a scoundrel.

Hope you all have a peaceful day. (Mom likes to read and learn new words so this may be a regular feature on the blog... )

Meet Only and Two Spot

These two brothers love each other so much and spend all their time together even tho they have completely different personalities.

They were in the third litter of Lily's (read Lily's story) along with Smidge and Tabitha - a litter of three white cats and one tabby. The only way Mom could tell them apart was little black smudges on their heads when they were kittens - hence the names. Only had one spot in the middle of his forehead and Two Spot had two - not very original but it would help tell them apart or so she thought.

As they got older the spots disappeared and now there is no black on them at all. But Mom knows who is who (see her story about that).

These guys were born under our house in the crawlspace in early fall of 2005. Mom had caught the second litter before and brought them inside - otherwise Lily would run them off if they interfered with the new litter. Feral life can be tough. Lily was a great Momcat and brought all the kittens up on the back deck to eat and play during the warm days.

By the time the kittens were a few months old, Mom wanted to try yet again to catch Lily before she got pregnant and had more. She was very good at avoiding the traps! This time she was more used to Mom and so were the kittens. Only and Two Spot loved Mom and would let her play with them.

She would prop open the back door to the porch and entice them inside with toys. She was hoping to catch them this way and she did. She stood inside the house with the door shut but a string was tied to a small piece of wood holding the porch door open. She got Only and Two Spot inside and way in the back of the porch so they would not get caught in the door. She pulled the string and the prop holding the door open moved and the door shut! Boy were those two kittens freaked out!!!! They ran everywhere trying to get out, yelling for their mom.

Now Mom and Pop had to catch the kittens and put them in their own room for safety. That was not easy - they were scurrying around and hiding in and under everything. It was pretty funny to watch - we could all see from the windows onto the porch and supervised the whole thing. After a long while they finally caught the kittens and took them inside the house. She fixed up two big kennel cages with water, litter boxes and food for them. This would help her tame them - otherwise they would just hide from beans and no one could touch them.

They settled in pretty quickly and over time let her handle them. She eventually caught the rest of the gang and Lily the same way! They are all very loving and affectionate cats - especially Only and Two Spot.

Only is kinda nervous and a little shy. He loves attention and does a little dance for Mom when she comes near him. Two Spot is very sweet but he is an on the go cat - always things to do and places to go. He never sits still long enough to pet him! He loves to play and run around the shelter. He doesn't let anything bother him. Only gets stressed out easily and has UTI problems if he is not careful. Mom has to feed him special food for that.

Who is Who!

Visitors have asked Mom how she knows who is who with the nine white cats...so she will tell you how she can tell us apart!

This is Norm, who looks very much like Georgie, his sister and littermate - except he is larger with more jowls. Norm is very reclusive and quiet - the least tame of the guys.

Sam is Norm's littermate and Mom had the vet take the tip off his left ear when he was neutered so she could tell him and Norm apart. Sam is very quiet and tends to stay by himself unless he joins his brothers to eat from the dry food bowl.

Two Spot is Only's littermate and is smaller than the other boys with a narrow triangular face. He is very happy-go-lucky and is always playing and having fun.

Snowball lives up to his name - very large and round, with jowls. He is sweet and loving and is the head mancat - always sparing with Al!

Al is the only long haired cat with blue eyes and deaf. He is pretty easy to handle and loves attention from us. Sorry about the snoot on his nose - he gets black dirt than Mom has to clean off his nose.

Only is Two Spot's littermate and has big soulful eyes and just loves Mom. He does a little dance for Mom whenever he sees her, wiggling all over. He is much more nervous than Two Spot and will hide if anything is amiss in the shelter.

We have two girl cats - this is Smidge who always looks like a deer in the headlights. She is tiny and is Two Spot and Only's littermate. She loves to eat and be petted. She has gotten much better in the past year - she used to run and hide if anyone came near.

This is Georgie, Norm's littermate and almost twin. She is just a bit smaller boned and Mom does have trouble telling them apart. Georgie's very cuddly and sweet and loves attention - Norm does not. So that is the best way to tell who is who.

And this is Lily - the mom of all these cats. She is very sweet, loving and wants attention. She will run over to Mom to get some scritches! She has a round body with a more narrow face. She is very friendly and will be the first to greet Mom and Pop when they come inside.

We hope this helps explain how Mom tells them all apart and gives a little bit more info about everybody too. For more Cats on Tuesday visit Gattina!
