Forever Friday and Happy 4th!

Even tho June is over, we are still doing our Forever Fridays to help shelter cats find their forever homes. This week our poster cat is Shadow, a 1 year old Maine Coon mix neutered male from the Avery County Humane Shelter in Newland, NC.

*For one reason or another Shadow keeps coming back. Never his fault! Shadow has found his home twice and the families have had to bring him back due to lack of money or moving to a new location. Please help us find his forever home.*
UPDATE - Beatrice the cow cat from an earlier post was adopted since we ran the post! YAAAAAY!
And on a lighter note.....

Ivy says we wish you all a very happy, safe and fun Fourth of July!

In honor of our National Bird the Bald Eagle we have some fun trivia about them......

Did You Know?
Benjamin Franklin, John Adams & Thomas Jefferson served on the committee that picked the eagle for the national seal (Franklin wanted the turkey.)

Bald eagles have few natural enemies & live only in North America.

Bald eagles get their white head & tail feathers about 4-5 years of age.

The only other kind of eagle in North America is the golden eagle.

Bald eagles mate for life, but if one dies, the survivor will accept a new mate.

It is a felony to shoot an eagle.

Happy 4th Ya'll!

Princess and the Pea??

When Mom takes the bed down at night she piles all the quilts, pillows and stuff on the chair next to it. Darby thinks this is the purrfect spot to nap. Sometimes you can't see her all hidden in the pile!

Doesn't she remind you of a fairy tale....which one is it...the Princess and the Pea? Go back to slepp Darby, sorry we woke you!

Happy Napping wherever your favorite spot is!

Forever Friday - Big Boy and Winners!

This larger than life boy is from Catman2, a private, no-kill cat-only shelter. Conceived in 1996, Catman2 is managed by Dr. Harold Sims, a retired college biology professor and his wife,Kay, a retired school social worker. The cats live in a large shelter adjacent to the Sims’ home in Cullowhee, North Carolina.

If you like large cats you will love this older cat, Big Boy, He is around 25 pounds of love. If you adopt him he NEEDS to be put on a diet. He needs a home and lots of action. Check him out. He had a home. Good home. two good but owners fell on hard times and had to give him up. They left the shelter crying. He was loved and he needs love again. He has a microchip. Click on Catman2 to see more of Big Boy and the other cats available for adoption.

Thank you all so much for the great turnout for Chica's 19th Birthday Bash! She had a great time and is still going strong - not one to wimp out on a party! We have some winners for the quiz questions altho Mom should have Googled the answers better herself - you guys got one up on her!

The oldest living cat, according to the Guinness Book of World Records was Creme Puff from Austin, TX who lived to be 38 years - and Grandpa, the Sphynx, (who Mom thought was the oldest!) was 34 years and 2 months. So we have two winners - Artemisia, Socks, Scylla & Fenris for getting Grandpa's age correct first and The Monkeys for guessing right first about Creme Puff. Both you guys get a fun cube to play in!

No one got the first quiz about what you call a cat over 22 until Mom added another hint - cats over 22 are considered to be in their 100's - so the answer is centenarian. Both Creme Puff and Grandpa were considered to be 120 plus years old! Cat of Nine Tails won this quiz for guessing correctly first so they get a copy of the Cat High Yearbook!

Thanks so much for playing and all the good wishes. Let's hope Chica is around another 10 years! Don't forget June is Adopt a Shelter Cat Month!
