Happy 19th Purrthday Chica!

Mom found Chica in 1992 around the Christmas holidays outside a strip mall in Florida trying to get into a shop. No one knew who she was or where she came from so Mom took her home. No one claimed the cute little tortie and the vet said she was about 6 months old - making her birthday sometime around late June so we picked the 24th - six months from Christmas eve!

Here are a couple of shots from her early days. Chica is Mom's first cat! Chica has been a feisty cat from day one but loved her Mom. She would have preferred to be a only cat but Mom had other ideas - Chica rolled with the punches and because she is sooo crabby to other cats still kept her senior kitty position. She walks around he house grumbling, muttering to herself and swatting anyone who gets in her way. No one messes with Chica!

She was diagnosed four years ago with Chronic Renal Failure but with holistic treatment is doing fine. Last fall she had a bad spell and the new vet (also an animal communicator) said Chica wanted Mom to know she plans on being around for some time, not to worry!

Happy Birthday dear Chica and may we have you for many more years! To celebrate we will have a few prizes to give away to the beans who know the most about senior cats!(for those who live overseas we have a special prize of five cat themed note cards by a New Hampshire artist)

Aren't they great notecards? Some are cats, others have woodland animals but all are so lovely - frameable even.

Quiz #1. Since cats live longer, you can't use the seven year to one year ratio on their ages like we do with dogs. Cats have their own human/cat age equivalent chart. Under 6 months for a cat is equal to childhood in human terms. Eight months to two years equals teen age years, 1-2 years is young adult, 4-8 years is middle age, 17-19 is elderly and so on. What do we call cats over 22 years of age? (Hint - cats are in their hundreds after this age....)

The first commenter to answer correctly wins a copy of the cool book Cat High, The Yearbook - a complete yearbook only all the photos, activities etc. are of cats and about cats. It is an out of print book so this one is used but in good condition! Plus a bag of kitty Temptations !(Overseas winners get the notecards)

Quiz #2. How old was the world's oldest cat? This cat was Sphynx who was originally born in Paris but imported to the US. He passed away of a ripe old age in 1998. The first to answer this question right will get a new great kitty cube for fun playtime! Only is modeling the cube for you. Plus a bag of kitty Temptations! (Again notecards for the overseas winner)

Please enjoy the tropical themed party (since Chica was born in FL) and have some cake, turkey (Chica's favorite), nip, treats and enjoy all the toys!

Thanks for coming and please stop by Fuzzy Tales to wish Derry Happy 3rd Birthday!
