Happy Valentine's Day!

Woody posting (for a change) ...Today is a big day at our house - Pop turns 60 something, (we won't reveal the exact age) the beans are celebrating 24 years of marriage and it is the national day of love!  Since it is bitter cold (at least the morning will be) the celebrations will take place at home this year.

Coconut curry  for Mom in the front with a naan taco and lumpia for Pop

Pop and Mom did go out to eat on Friday to a curry house that they hadn't been to before - it was a balmy 39 degrees that day.  During cold wintry years like this Mom wishes that they got married in a warmer month but 24 years ago they were living in Florida, so hey.

Grain and sugar free apple crisp

Mom baked Pop a flour less apple crisp since they don't do cakes anymore.  There will be flowers, presents and eats plus  lots of kitty snuggling too.  This is Mr. Kitty's first Valentine's Day with us so he can join in the festivities.  We are also taking part in Sunday Selfie on Cat on my Head blog too.

A selfie with Mr Kitty, Mom, Pop and even Sweetpea

Whatever you do for this joyful day - we hope it is filled to the brim with smiles and love.
Happy Valentine's day from all of us to you!

Me wishing you Happy Heart Day!

P.S. Next week marks the 7th anniversary of our cat blog and we are celebrating with a give-away or two so put in on your calendar - Feb. 19!

Happy Heart Day!

It is my (Smidge) turn (at last) to do  a post!  We are very lucky to have all of us here together for another Valentine's Day. It is a very special day at our house - Pop's birthday is today and the beans's 23rd Wedding Anniversary also.

Callie

Being a cold wintry month, February would not seem like a month for love but all of Pop's family got married this month - his parents married on Feb 14 just like Mom and Pop did.  His younger brother married on Feb 16th and his older brother John who just went to the Bridge married his late first wife on Feb. 26 and his second wife Ann on Feb. 11.

Georgie

According to Wikipedia....Feb. 14th was first associated with romantic love in the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in the High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished. In 18th-century England, it evolved into an occasion in which lovers expressed their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering confectionery, and sending greeting cards (known as "valentines"). In Europe, Saint Valentine's Keys are given to lovers "as a romantic symbol and an invitation to unlock the giver’s heart".

Wishing you a day filled with love -  whether it is furry love, romantic love, friend love or just love!  Go. Be. Love!

Update on Thankful Thursday

Two Spot

Two Spot posting for us today.  Sorry about our long absence.  We have had a rough few weeks.  As you saw in our last post, Pop lost his older brother to cancer.  We are all very sad about that.  Thank you so much for the kind, comforting comments left on our blog and Facebook page.

The Pop got back from being with his family (Mom had to stay with us as there are so many special needs cats now) and came down with a very evil stomach virus which he promptly gave to Mom even tho she was trying very hard NOT to catch it.  They were both sick for days and then very tired and weak after.  We didn't have any cat food in the house so Pop get himself together enough to go get some - only one brand!!! Imagine that? Boy were we upset!  On the upside Mom was able to give Georgie her insulin and test her blood even tho she was sick.  We are glad that is over with!

Georgie birdwatching

Georgie is doing very well - no surgery needed.  Mom changed her from lactulose to Miralax and that is working wonderfully. Georgie is doing "her business" a couple of times a day and all is going well.  Snowball was switched to Miralax too and is doing just dandy!  Yay for Miralax.  Thanks for all your suggestions, comments and comfort during this episode.

Snowdrops

Our weather has been mild with no snow.  Mom is glad as she comes from MA and they are getting slammed up there!  Our snowdrops and crocuses are blooming.

Crocus

We have another health issue - it seems Lily had a bad tooth.  She underwent surgery today and two teeth extracted plus the vet did a biopsy of the inflammation under her tongue to make sure it was not the big C. Lily did well and will be on an antibiotic for the teeth extraction.  We may have to have another auction for this, so stay tuned.  Purr for Lily please - she is a special girl and the Momcat of all the whitesters.  We need her to be well and certainly NOT have that other thing.

Sweet Lily

Come back by for our Valentine celebration - it is our Pop's birthday and the beans anniversary too.  A big day in our house.

Snow and Celebrations!

Lily

Lily here today wishing you all a very Happy Valentine's Day from our house to yours!  It is a big day for us - it is Pop's 65th Birthday (yes he is THAT old!)!!!  Here he is is from a baby to his freshman year in high school.

And then...it is the human's anniversary - Mom picked this day so Pop would never forget what day their anniversary was!  They have been together for 26 years - pretty amazing.  Here they are from when they met in CT, in Germany on vacation, at Cape Cod, in FL (where they adopted Angel Chica and Angel Yoko) and then NC!

All us cats chipped in and are sending them to a great restaurant for dinner tonight - hoping they can get out and into town after all the snow we had this week.

Looking down our driveway!
So whatever you do and where every you are, celebrate LOVE today - we leave you with this poem Mom loves by E. E. Cummings

“I carry your heart with me (I carry it in my heart)I am never without it (anywhere
I go you go,my dear; and whatever is done by only me is your doing,my darling)
I fear no fate (for you are my fate,my sweet)I want no world (for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

I carry your heart (I carry it in my heart)”

Happy Valentine's Day!

Darby here today to wish you all a wonderful day filled with love and joy!  It is a very special day in our house cuz it is Pop's birthday and our Mom and  Pop's wedding anniversary too.  21 years ago they got hitched in Florida!

A little catch-up....Mom has had a health issue to deal with and has not been able to blog.  That seems to be under control right now..whew! All is well other than that - Snowball is doing fine and is adjusting to his new routine and food choices.  Chica is getting frailer but still geitng around and doing OK for her age.  We have had a mild winter and our daffodils are actually starting to bloom.

Mom will get the auction items for Snowball's fund raiser out this week  - she promises.  She appreciates your patience. Hope we get to blog again next week or even before.  Thank you for friendship - you will never know how much it means to all of us.  Have a great Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day

Me, Chica as a young ladycat.

Hope you don't mind if this is a repost from Mom's other blog and many of you have not seen it.  Mom is still sick - hasn't been out of the house in a week.

This is a very special day in our house - our people's 20th wedding anniversary, Pop's birthday (we won't tell you how old) and Valentine's Day! Mom and Pop have postponed their celebration until Mom feel much better but she did get some flowers from all of us!

We just wanted to take you down memory lane to 20 years ago today.....we (Chica,  Mom and Pop - Yoko didn't come to live with us until 2 years later) were living in SW Florida and decided to get married on Valentine's Day. Since both families lived in other parts of the country they, being a very unconventional couple, just went ahead and did it without telling anyone. In Florida, at the time, all you needed to do to get married was to have your marriage license notarized. Since it was a busy day at the courthouse, they found a realtor in town who would do it. We lived a block up the street so the folks got "married" at the real estate office, had breakfast at one of their favorite places and headed to the Everglades for a day of hiking and birdwatching. Not everyone's idea of a perfect wedding day but it was theirs!

This top pic is where the so called wedding took place and below Pop is posing in the banyan tree at the end of our street.

Their wedding photo is unique. They wore hiking clothes so they could head off to the Everglades after breakfast. Their neighbors bought white roses for flowers and took them to breakfast. They  like to celebrate our special holidays by either going for a hike or going out to eat. Pop is a chef so that is understood. They never tired of visiting the Everglades while living in Florida!

They visited their favorite photography studios in the Everglades - Clyde Butcher who is a modern Florida Ansel Adams capturing breathtaking larger than life black and white photos of the natural surroundings in the Everglades. We have a couple of his photos in our house to remind us of a very special day!

Happy Valentine's Day to all of you from all of us!  May your day be special whatever you do!
