Happy Memorial Day!

 

Us kitties want to wish you all a very happy Memorial Day!  Many thanks to all those who served in the armed forces, both two and four legged. We remember and are forever grateful!

Mom had to work Fri., Sat. and Mon. so she did not have a restful long weekend! And I, Sweetpea, am in the doghouse so to speak.  I love to hang out in the kitchen while meals are being cooked, scouring the floor for morsels dropped.  It is hard work, so I even stretch out and nap.

Well, last night Pop was was making supper at the stove and I was tailing him a bit too close. When he turned around quickly, I was right there!  He bent his leg funny trying to avoid stepping on me. I love him for that but now he is walking with a limp.  His knee was turned crooked and is all swollen and sore. I have said I was  so very sorry but I just can't help myself! I am right back there in the way again the next meal.

So I guess on Memorial Day, all of us cats will be waiting for Mom to come home  from work and helping Pop rest his knee with an ice pack.  Hope you have a better time than us!

After such a horrendous week  in this nation with the two  major tornadoes that hit Shawnee and Moor OK, it does make one pause and be so very grateful for all that we have.

Happy Monday y'all!  I am feeling much better but I had a runny swollen eye a day ago.  Seems like this was going thru our house - Darby had it and Mamacita too.  If we don't feel very well and it is not serious, Mom treats us with homeopathy first.

She gave us a blend of homeopathic remedies three times one day and it worked on all of us.  She uses different remedies depending on our specific symptoms but always gives us Aconitum napellus to treat any cold symptoms like runny eyes, nose etc.  Other eye remedies that are good to mix with Aconite are Apis mellifica and Allium cepa.  The one the worked for me was Argentum nitricum.

Yoko here today.  We are knackered from partying all weekend! I hope you all had a wonderful time at my party.  And I hope that Moms everywhere had a great day yesterday too!  Thank you so very much for coming. I loved having you all here  I am resting up today from all the excitement over the weekend.

Since our Mom's Day was focused on me, we want to make today's photos about our cat Moms - Lily and Mamacita as well as announce the winners of the party guessing games.

On Friday we asked who said this - "Growing old is not for sissies".  The answer is Bette Davis and Cat's Cats was the first one to guess correctly so her gang will get a hand knit mouse (or two) as their prize.

On Saturday we explained what kind of tabby I am - a very pretty unusual one. (**smile**)  The answer is a "ticked" tabby! Socks from Alasandra, the Cats and Dogs won this prize - a copy of book The Dalai Lama's Cat by David Michie.  Congrats to them!

Sunday we asked how old I was when my baby blue eyes turned the gorgeous green they are now.  When I was adopted from the animal shelter in Florida, they told my beans that I was a bit over 6 weeks old.  Exactly two weeks later, my eyes turned from blue to green. So the answer is 8 weeks and 3 days.  Ginger Jasper came the closest to this with his guess of 2 months and 5 days.  Congrats to them on the cute cat ornament!
