Never before seen..until now...our 2016 Wildcat Woods Halloween costumes!  First is me...Countess Tabitha the Severer, known for carving her victims into tiny pieces.

Seductive Callie is dressed as a Hawaiian Hula Girl with flower lei and grass skirt. hoping to win over some handsome mancat out there.

For the ladycats is hunky Punk Rocker Mr Kitty with his spiked orange hair, leather wrist cuff and chain collar (hidden in his long sexy fur.)

And then for the cats who won't let mom dress them up and have to be tricked to get costumed... the tongue in cheek, punny and silly costumes ...

 Callie here today -You guys know how much Mom loves Halloween!  We are helping her get ready by wearing our special Halloween themed bandanas by Jodi, our IG friend.  Each one is reversible and attaches to your collar.  We don't wear collars so Mom used a ribbon.

Mom also put up some Halloween decor at the base of our driveway.  A scary witch with a gravestone, with pumpkins and mums.Have you put any Halloween decorations up at your house?

We will be back with a special Halloween post with us in new never before seen costumes.  Before that we will remember our dear Minnie who left us last year on Oct. 29.  My Gotcha Day and Snowball's comes up right after Halloween so we should be online quite a bit for a while! Hope to see you all then!!

P.S. An update on us.  Normie was at the vet's twice this month for constipation.  It turns out the culprit was his Greenie dental treats.  Don't use those. We threw ours away. Then Sweetpea had a sore paw - her dew claw had grown in again so they had to cut all the claws way back.  We will have to keep an eye on her claws. She is doing well on her herbal thyroid and kidney meds.

Happy Mardi Gras!

Tabitha here today and we are celebrating Mardi Gras!  There are a surprising number of transplants in our area from New Orleans who celebrate with an array of festivities leading up to the parade.   Mom and Pop love to attend the annual Mardi Gras parade in Asheville.  They try to go every year weather permitting.  This year was not bad for February - 49 degrees, sunny but a brisk wind.  I will narrate the parade as it goes by - ready?

This year's theme is Saints vs Sinners (Are you good or just good at it!). Everyone seemed to prefer the sinner version - dressing as fallen angels, devils, death, skeletons, grim reapers, and everything in between!  So many parade watchers were dressed up too - it was hard to know where to look first.

 The beans walked up to the parade site behind these revelers! Mom had her beads on - real ones from a friend who went to New Orleans.  The parade offered bands, colorful clowns throwing beads to the onlookers, wonderful floats and so much more.  Each group or float is called a Krewe and they all have funky names.

 This young girl was handicapped and rode in a three wheeler with her baby alpaca.  There a lots of alpaca farms here.  A King and Queen are chosen weeks before and they ride as special hosts of the parade.  Afterwards everyone is invited to the Queen's Ball at a local restaurant.

P.S.  Just an update on Mom and Mr. Kitty - both are doing much better this week.  And  the vet called to let us know that Mr. Kitty's lump was a benign thyroid cyst and that since they got it all out, it won't come back!  Isn't that great?  Thanks to all who purred and sent good vibes for him.  Have a colorful Mardi Gras y'all!!!

Happy Rubber Ducky Day - Jan 13!

 It is that time of year again - Rubber Ducky Day!  Mom loves to post pictures of us with our Rubber Duckies.

Georgie is more sleepy than interested in hers.

 Instead of the usual "Rubber Ducky Song"  sung by Ernie of Sesame Street fame - today we have a cool video of Little Richard singing the song.  Waay cooler, right?

Did you know that the rubber ducky was inducted into the  the National Toy Hall of Fame in 2013?  The museum, located in Rochester NY explained - "With their bright color, smooth texture, and (for some) squeaky or quacky sounds, rubber ducks sharpen toddlers’ senses. Their presence in the bathtub soothes youngsters’ fears of water and water immersion and makes good clean fun of the routine hygiene they’re learning."

 Another trivia bit on rubber duckies - On Aug. 8, 1981, Baltimore Mayor William Donald Schaefer — nicknamed “Donald Duck” — jumped into a 79° seal tank at the city’s National Aquarium, clutching a rubber duck and wearing a Victorian bathing suit, in a stunt to draw attention to the institution.

World Smile Day - Oct 3

Today is World Smile Day. And all us cats are official World Smile Day Ambassadors.  Do an act of kindness - help one person smile!

World Smile Day is celebrated on the first Friday in the month of October every year. The idea of World Smile Day was coined and initiated by Harvey Ball, a commercial artist from Worcester, Massachusetts. (Mom's hometown.) 

Harvey Ball is known to have created the Smiley Face in 1963. The World's first World Smile Day was held in the year 1999 and has been held annually since.  After Harvey died in 2001, the "Harvey Ball World Smile Foundation" was created to honor his name and memory. The slogan of the Smile Foundation is "improving this world, one smile at a time." The Foundation continues as the official sponsor of World Smile Day each year. (info from Wikipedia)

Wordy Wednesday - Tabitha Does a Canidae Review

Tabitha here today with this post.  Sorry we have not been around - Mom is busy getting things ready for Pop's surgery in two weeks.  He will not be able to do much for two weeks after and  it will be a month before he is back to normal so we will have to help mom take care of Pop and us!  We will fill you in closer to the date.

Now for our Canidae review -

We were sent sample packets of Canidae Grain Free Treats with Fresh Salmon and with Fresh Chicken.  Well the salmon flavor is almost gone already .  Mom had a hard time to take a photo of us eating them cuz we wolf them down so fast!

The treats are small and heart shaped so we can eat them easily since most of us are seniors.  The crunchy texture helps to clean our teeth (for those of us who still have some...er.. teeth that is.)

Happy Straw Hat Day - May 15

 Today is National Straw Hat Day - the day when you put your felt hats away and take out you cool and comfy straw hats for the summer season.

None of us are real big on wearing clothes, props or hats so Mom did her best to dress us in straw hats.  Tabitha and Lily were willing to cooperate but Two Spot just hid under his hat!

 Ever wonder how certain hat sayings came into being - well here are the origins of some:

Hold On To Your Hat(s)
A warning that some excitement or danger is imminent. When riding horseback or in an open-air early automobile, the exclamation 'hold on to your hat' when the horse broke into a gallop or the car took-off was certainly literal.

Demented, go mad. Hat-makers use to inhale fumes from the mercury that was part of the process of making felt hats.
