Merry Christmas Everyone!

It's me Joey showing off all the Christmas cards us cats got this year from our dear blogging friends.  Waaaay more than Mom and Pop got!

Sweetpea checks out the gifts.

The holiday season is one of many surprises...not just cards but gifts under the tree and some even with our names on them!

Whatcha doin' Mom?

Mom has that flashy box out all the time, surprising us when we least expect it!.

 Mom please, some privacy!!!!

Every morning we surprise Mom by leaving ornaments on the floor under the tree.  We like to redecorate the tree daily!

Mamacita making sure no one opened her gift yet.

We hope your holiday is filled with lots of wonderful surprises.  Wishing you all a Merry Christmas from our house to yours!  We will be taking a break for a few days.  See ya next week.

The Joy of Cats

Sweetpea watching for introoders....

With all the sadness on CB this past week or more, it really makes Mom appreciate the time she has with us cats all the more.  We try to keep Mom and Pop amused with our silliness, loved and comforted with our companionship and they in turn take extra special care of each and every one of us.  No effort is too much in our care cuz  Mom tells us we bring joy into her life every single day!

Two Spot being his silly self....

A poem about cats that says it all... The Magician by Arlene Gay Levine

Then my best friend
on all the Earth
sits upon my lap
not to be comforted
but to soothe.

Wizard of the heart,
my cat,
when the world fails
 or the day weighs,
with a wave of the tail
or soulful glance
makes the Universe
shine once more.

Darby looking cute and oh so cuddly...

Hug your dog or cat today...their time with us is so precious and short. We are joining Camera Critters and Photo Hunt - Joy today!  Do join too. Happy Weekend.

Beautiful Minnie is our Peacekeeper.

National Grouch Day - Oct 15

Tabitha here with my grouchy face on.  It seems that today Saturday  October 15 is National Grouch Day. A day for the public to celebrate grouchiness and the things that make you grouchy! Here goes -
I don't like...

-having to wait until the older cats get served stinky goodness first - I am the biggest so I should eat first.

-being told to go away when I just want lovin'. A girl has needs.

-Pop sitting in my chair. I should get my chair when I want my chair. Find your own chair Pop!

-Woody sitting next to some other ladycat. He is MINE!

-being told to stop playing in the water bowl. It's fun! I don't care if everything gets wet.

I think I have covered it all. Go ahead be grouchy today. That is what today is for! What gripes have you got?

On a more serious note...Sunday Oct 16 is National Feral Cat Day. We are all rescued ferals at our place and we know how hard life can be. Stop back by tomorrow for our special post. In the meantime, do something kind for the ferals in your community.

Photo Hunt - Mostly Black

This week's Photo Hunt - Mostly Black was easy for us - we have lots of all black cats bu some of us are almost black.  This is Woody here.  He is a black and grey tabby.  His back is solid black with grey under. He is very good at camouflage - he can be sitting very still in the open and Mom won't even see him cuz he seems to blend in with all the surroundings.  (We think he can make himself invisible!)

Now Chica here is a black tortoiseshell - mostly black with lots of orange and tan in her coat. She is napping so we won't bother her after all at 19 she deserves to do what she pleases.

And finally Joey is another tabby with lots of black on his back but with tan and grey.  We think they call that a ticked tabby but he is anything but...just a very laid back loverboy.

Please help us find a home for Avon - her info and photo are on the sidebar.  She still has not been adopted from a local shelter.  All her kittens found homes but not her.

Also Mom is having a birthday this week on March 3 and will be doing a commentathon to raise money for Marg of Marg's Pets so do come back by and join in.  For each comment she will donate 55cents to help our her vet bills. (Cuz that is how old she is) Recently Marg's Lucky has not been feeling well and is on meds.

Have a great weekend!

Photo Hunt - Male

Darby here today.  We are joining in on Photo Hunt and the word today is male.  Here I am showing off the new Christmas cards we got in the male like the one I am holding from Rosie and Henry and another one from Fuzzy Tales' Nicki, Annie and Derry.

And this one from Hannah and Lucy all the way from England! Excuse me while I stretch - Mom woke me up from a nap to do this post.  ....What?  Just a minute here...Joey is saying something.....

Darby, I think they mean male as in me - like a mancat.  Not mail as in letters. It is spelled different!

Hey, I will spell male like I want to. And besides, if we got you in the post, we are covered, right? (For those of you who are wondering...I am a ladycat.  I can't help it if Mom thought I was a boy and gave me a boy name!)  For more male pics visit Photo Hunt!

Please make sure you stop by the Commentathon going on at Daily Dose of Dogs (aka Cats with Your Coffee to help Chrystal raise green papers  for a bigger cat kennel at her private shelter.Spread some cheer and help out too!

And...an auction to help Terry and her Cornish Rex cats pay vet bills for Brighton when he had an emergency crisis back in May - great stuff and lots for cats and home made too! Goes thru Dec 20.

Photo Hunt - Orange

Mom may have used this picture before but since we don't have any orange cats we gotta use our orange Garfield cat bed for our Photo Hunt this week - the clue is orange! We like to cuddle up in it when it is cold outside! Very snug and great for brothers to hang out together in. And it is special cuz it was a git from our Grandmommy who is no longer with us. Thanks Grandmommy!

Be sure to visit Photo Hunt for more orange pictures!

Happy Mother's Day and Yoko's 17th Gotcha Day!

We are celebrating Yoko for the entire weekend! Sorry about the fuzzy old photo of her...Mom took a picture of an old picture...but isn't she cute?

In 1993, Pop decided to surprise Mom with a puppy on Mother's Day, May 9 so he took her to the shelter the day before to pick out a puppy. No puppies! Not a one. So Pop was talking to the lady cleaning cages and she handed him a tiny tabby kitten barely 6-7 weeks old. He was smitten! That kitten was Yoko...the rest is history.

Yoko, named for her very distinctive voice, still had her kitten blue eyes when we took her home. She was very curious and lively. We kept her in the bedroom since Chica was not used to other cats. Yoko had something wrong with her..she could not keep any food in her - she either had the runs or threw it up. Mom took her to the vet but they couldn't find anything wrong and told Mom to stop changing foods on her. Mom didn't like that so she found a recipe in Anitra Frazier's book the New Natural Cat for cat mother's milk substitute and fed Yoko that. It worked - she kept it down.

Mom took her to another vet and they found a parasite in her tummy that was causing her to be sick. With the right medication, she was all better. I bet Yoko was glad Mom looked up stuff in her books!

Yoko is a very sweet kitty who loves cream cheese, naps and hidy spots way up high. You never knew where you would find her - on the refrigerator, on the closet shelf or on top of the kitchen cabinets! Now she can't quite get up that high. She still likes to nap in the strangest spots!

She has slowed down a lot, has lost most of her teeth and does like to sleep, well, alot! We love her very much and she is still the best Mother's Day gift Mom could have ever gotten!

Yoko will be pampered all weekend with lots of cream cheese, a special salmon dinner and all the loving she could want! In honor of Yoko, Mom will be giving away a copy of the New Natural Cat book to a lucky winner. So... if you don't already have a copy or would like one, be sure to mention that in your comments! (Canadian bloggers are included but sorry, we can't afford to post overseas.)

We have cake and cupcakes for the beans and treats, tuna flakes and nip for the cats. Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Mother's Day to all the great mother's out there - two-legged and four-legged. We are joining in on Photo Hunt (the word today is MOTHER), Weekend Cat Blogging and Camera Critters and Pet Pride too so be sure to go by and see more fun posts!

Wendy was sweet enough to feature Yoko on her Mother's Day post for the Lol Spot - check it out and thanks Wendy!
