Mr. Kitty Needs Purrs

UPDATE TUES - Mr Kitty is on his way home.  All went well.  The fluid filled lump was sizable - about  2" by 1 1/2". The vet drained it rather than put him thru surgery to cut it out.  He will be happy to get back home to eat - he loves his food and was so upset we pulled the food up last night.  I had to shut him in the bedroom to feed the others this morning before I took him in.  After so many losses I was upset leaving him this morning and cried when I came out to the car.  It will take a while to relax at the vet I guess. It was not anyone's fault with Georgie - just a lot of complications.  The vets involved did the best they could for her.  I just have to let that go.  Thank you for all the purrs for Mr Kitty (and me).  Love you all.

Mr. Kitty has a lump on his neck.  We did a biopsy months ago and it is not cancer - just a pocket of fluid collecting there.  The vets drained it at that time while he was having his dental.  It is rather large again and in the way when we have to get blood from him etc.

Watching bird TV

Tues. tomorrow, we will bring him in to have it drained again. He will need a little anesthesia but not as much as if he had surgery.  Please keep him in your thoughts and keep those purrs coming for a easy procedure and recovery.

Sleepy boy.

At some point, if the lump seems to come back quickly, we may opt for surgery to remove it altogether but I hesitate to do this due to his age (17 this year) and his feistiness.  Recovering from full surgery would be stressful on him and us.  We will update this post and Facebook when he gets out of his procedure.

Georgie is Home from the ER Vet

Georgie during visiting hours
Last week Georgie, who is diabetic,  was not herself - not eating much and just laying around. I made an appointment with the internal medicine specialist at our ER veterinary hospital for Friday.  They examined her and found her potassium low, her BUN high, her blood glucose very high and she was extremely dehydrated as well.  They kept her overnight Friday.

She was doing better by Saturday afternoon when I visited but her numbers were not down yet so she spent another night there as well.  I could tell she was feeling better  as she was more alert and eating for the techs.  We had a good visit and I felt she would come home Sunday which she did.

She preferred snuggling in my coat.

She has been eating like a trooper and acting much more herself.  I will call the vet specialist on today to find out what caused this and how we can prevent it from happening again.  Initially the vet felt that we would have to adjust her insulin but that does not seem to be the case now.  I am just happy to have my baby girl home with us.  Thank you for all the purrs and comments on our Facebook pages about Georgie.  It worked!

Jack with his nip toy in Sept.

Please keep our neighbor cat Jack, who I have mentioned in the blog often, in your purrs and prayers.  He has been missing for 15 days now - not usual for him.  We live in the woods with a few homes - theirs, ours and a couple of others.  He never went across the road.  His mom came by a few days back to ask me if I had seen him.  She seems to feel something bad happened to him.  He always came home every night.  We do have all sorts of wild animals and raptors in the woods.  I keep looking for his little face at the back screen door but it hasn't happened..  After scouring the yard and the part of the forest he usually frequented, there wasn't a trace of him or anything that looks disturbed.  I am heartbroken - he was our outdoor part time cat.  I will keep you posted

P.S. I apologize for not getting around to the Veteran's Day posts - I was assist feeding Georgie every few hours all  last week to keep her from getting fatty liver disease again.  I was so worried - all my efforts went to her.  I will try to catch up this week.

Mancat Monday with Mr. Kitty and Georgie Update

I will give you a quick rundown of my life with Aunt Cheri and Uncle Don and then turn this over to the beans to give you a Georgie update. It has been five weeks since I moved here and I am settling in just fine.  I LOVE my Uncle Don!

I follow hm everywhere - to the kitchen, bathroom, office.  I even beg for food from him (with the other cats supervising of course).  I sit on his lap any chance I get - when he is on the phone, at the computer or watching TV.  If he ignores me (how dare he?) then I tap him gently with my paw.  If that doesn't work then I give him a love nip on his arm,.  That usually gets his attention!

I do miss my humans from before but things are not so bad here.  When we had company the other day,  I met a nice guy who has hair the same color as mine!  We hit it off real fine!  Us gingers need to stick together!

As of Sunday Georgie who was diagnosed with Fatty Liver Disease and is in ICU at the vet's, has eaten a bit of tuna on her own - a great sign that the feeding tube might not have to be in long and that she is feeling better.  This photo is from Sat. and she is still a bit loopy from the anesthesia and not feeling well.  She looked so much better a day later and hopefully even better on Monday.

Monday we will meet with the internal medicine specialist to determine when she may be able to come home and how we will be monitoring her.  Georgie seems to know we are there and purrs up a storm, with little chirps every now and then.  There is another Georgie cat in the next cage who got bit by a snake so there is confusion when the vet techs call out "Georgie's parents?"  Two sets of parents answer "Here"! So now we are Snakebite Georgie and just plain Georgie.

To tempt Georgie to eat, she has a buffet of food in her cage at all times.  She is also fed through her feeding tube every couple of hours, plus insulin and other things running through and IV all the time.  I will continue to update on her and sincerely thank you all for your support, sharing of our donation page (see in the sidebar or under the blog header), comments and donations.  We are finding that treating this disease is very costly - we will be upwards close to $3000. by the time she is home.  Money well spent on our sweet Georgie.

Thankful Thursday with Georgie

I am feeling so MUCH better these days.  I want to thank all of you who have shared, donated and bid on my Giveforward fund raising page, and my Medical Fund Auction.  It will help us pay off a good piece of the vet bill and medical expenses for my insulin.  There are four days left on the auction and new things are added daily so don't miss out.

I got shaved on my legs and neck and got jabbed a lot but I was a good girl.  Everyone told Mom how sweet I was.  I had to back to the hospital for a day last weekend to do a BG curve, whatever that is.  Mom got me low carb food and gets my blood to test everyday and gives me Lantus insulin injections every morning..  I don't mind cuz I do feel better.

I am still adapting to living in the house without my whitester brothers from the cat house.  I miss them a lot but I know I will make friends with the other kitties inside. My momcat Lily and litter mate Woody and sister from another litter Tabitha are inside with me.  We will be BFFs in no time. I venture out of my room for short periods but when it gets too much, I run back and hide in my cup bed.  Mom feels bad she had to move me inside with her but she can monitor me better this way.

Lily, Woody and Tabitha sleeping outside my room.

Your purrs, prayers and get well wishes thru all this have been so very welcome - and Mom appreciates all the advice, links and  chats with others who have diabetic cats.  We love each of you and are so very grateful for your help.

Purrs for Yoko Please

UPDATE - Long day and thank you all for your purrs.  I had to work tonight after taking Yoko to the new vet who was very kind and gentle with her.  She does have some dental issues (tooth abscess)  that will need to be addressed but he did find bacteria and crystals in her urine - so we are on 2 weeks of antibiotics, which will help her mouth and UTI plus something called D mannose to help rid deep bacteria from her bladder and possibly kidneys - I guess bacteria are attracted to this and attach to the D mannose and get flushed out.  Then he put her on another immune boosting algae supplement. We have to bring a urine sample back in 10 days and then see what is going on. Yoko already seems a bit perkier and hopefully we can stop this low grade infection once and for all.

In June Yoko who has CRF and high normal thyroid, had symptoms of a UTI and the vet started her on antibiotics.  I continued it for 4 weeks as she also had white blood cells in her urine.  We stopped the antibiotic and withing a week her symptoms were back.  Another round of antibiotics and this time she seemed to be over it but today the symptoms are back after 2 1/2 weeks of no symptoms.  We will be trying a new holistic vet to see if he can find out what this is.  I don't want to have to keep dosing her with antibiotics.

She went thru this last year in August with major symptoms - incontinence, vomiting, straining - the works.  After 4 weeks of antibiotics she was much much better but all along the urine showed no bacteria altho one vet said if it was in the kidney, the urine might not show any bacteria.

We are just hoping we can help make her more comfy and find out what is going on here.  Keep her in your thoughts.

Snowball Update and Auction

On a better day!

Snowball is home but very freaked out by this whole ordeal.  He is feral after all and not easy to handle normally.  He must have been very doped up or frightened at the vet cuz he did not give them any problems. They loved him and thought he was so easy!!! HA!!
Today so far he has been hiding under a chair in a cat bed.   He ate, peed and pooped but keeps away from us.  I did get his meds in him - for infection, muscle relaxant. Still have to give him something for his constipation and take the tape off one of his legs.  I got one off where the IV was but the pain patch is still on him.
I am looking up and ordering homeopathic remedies for blockage to have on hand in case.  No more dry food, fish, grain or veggies in his wet food.  That will take time to sort out the best can food.  he needs to lose weight as well. My research says that horsetail grass is good for reoccurring UTIs and he does get L-methionine and herbs to prevent crystals.  He is on Transfer Factor Plus for immune support.  We may use bottled water..and oh yea... digestive enzymes, slippery elm and aloe for constipation.  Hope all this works!
At the vet - not a happy camper!
Thank you for your ideas, concern and purrs!  This whole UTI issue is even more scary as I lost a cat a few years back from the vet not being able to get the catheter in and at the time had no ER vet nearby - it was a very small rural town and during a blinding January blizzard! I took Manny home rather than leave home rather than leave him at the vet if no one was going to be there to monitor him and he died in my arms.  he was only two.  I don't want that to happen again!
.My kitty fund is depleted after this and Joey's cancer last month so I have set up an auction blog.  The auction runs thru Jan 30 and has some new things on it as well as things from my sale blog.  Go check it out and share - I need all the green papers I can gather up!  Snowball's Auction Blog
P.S. I have not been by to visit everyone to thank you personally.  I will now that Snowball is home.  It has taken all my time to get him taken care of, set the auction up and let everyone know.  The next few days will be very quiet I hope so I will be by!

Purrs for Snowball

UPDATE The emergency vet was able to get a catheter in and he is unblocked but will have to stay there to be monitored for the next 48 hours.  Our bill is a mere $1200 **gasp*** rather than the initial $3000 they quoted us for the full surgery!!!  Snowball is resting and seems OK for now.  What a scare this was to think we had to do such drastic surgery or lose him!  Anybody have suggestions for food and treatment to keep this from happening?

Snowball has been getting UTIs lately and we thought this was just another one.  I thought he was acting funny and seemed to be in more pain so off to the vet we went today. He was blocked and they were not able to get the catheter in without damaging his urethra.

Phone calls and another trip to the vet.  We took the still sedated Snowball in our car to the emergency vet where he will have 24 hour monitoring.  They will try to do the catheter again but it looks like kidney stones lodged in his urethra.  The vets suggest doing the perineal urethrostomy - they shorten and widen the urethra so that this won't happen again.  Obviously they will be able to remove the obstruction while doing this.  Usually this is only done if they have reoccurring UTIs but in his case, he will not live if they cannot get the catheter in.

Being a weekend we don't have a choice of vets here - we have to go to who is available and open.  Please keep Snowblall in your prayers  that he comes thru this.  He is only 9 and certainly deserves many more years of love.

Thanks to Ann of Zoolatry for his graphic and for emailing everyone!  You guys are so supportive!  We will keep ya'll posted as we get more info.  What a long day.

So Very Grateful!

Me Joey!

Joey here today.  We are so very grateful to all of you who forwarded our info for my Chip In, those who reposted on Facebook and especially to those of you who donated.  Besides me we have had a lot of expenses here and Mom is struggling to keep up.

I am feeling fine basically.  Mom took me to the vet last week because I have lost weight and have a lump on my neck.  I also have a wound from a cyst that opened and drained but  I keep licking and scratching it so it won't heal.  We need to find out what is going on here.  My blood work showed I am in the early stages of Chronic Renal Failure which would account for the weight loss. I also have a little asthma going on too with coughing.  I am 13 so these things will come up.

Mom gives me  Tripsy now with Chica and Yoko for the CRF along with Standard Process Renal Support.  I get a homeopathic remedy for the asthma.  As for the lump, we will get it aspirated and then go from there.  If it is cancer then it will be removed.  The wound needs to be cared for either way and they have a laser treatment that might help that if it is not cancer.  Mom is taking very good care of me and trying to choose a vet who will be able to do the surgery on a older cat without problems.  Some of the vets here are old fashioned country ones with minimal equipment in the office.  Our vet does not do surgery.

We are going to leave the Chip in up for a bit since we have lots of other issues we can use help with. Along with me, several of our other kitties have health issues so Mom has been very busy caring for them.  Only, Rosa and Snowball have FLUTD and get herbs, calming treats and special food.  Chica and Yoko both need subcutaneous fluids daily requiring an ongoing supply of fluids and needles.  Al is the cause of the issues with Snowball and Only  so Pop built a special room for him - we do not have enough space to work with what we have already.

Yoko after her cut.

Yoko has long since stopped grooming herself so Mom hired a mobile groomer to give her a version of the lion cut - she looks cute and feels so much better.

Mom writes all our treatments down on  pad and crosses them off each day as she does them - it is the only way to remember who got what when.  Mom will keep you updated with me and what is going on.  At least now I can get things taken care of the way they should be and be around for a long time to come!

Snowball Rushed to VET

UPDATE
Snowball is home and on antibiotics fo a UTI - bacterial infection.  He was very swollen but not blocked completely and went on his own.  We are sooo happy to have our boy back home.  Thank you for all your purrs and comments.  I will visit ya'll on Sunday after I get some rest!

I noticed Snowball sitting in the litter box this morning but nothing was coming out. I gave him a dose of antibiotic I had on hand and called the VET.  I had not noticed any straining, small pee balls or anything before this altho he had a UTI in March of this year.  Being very large and still quite feral, we had to lure him into the dog kennel cage rather than the cat carrier. He was very alert and curious on the way to the VET. They did get a urine specimen from him already and we will wait to see what that shows.

I still do not have a computer - I am borrowing a friend's laptop and it is slow going as I am not used to working on this!  For pics I will have to use old ones I already have on other blog posts.

Please keep our sweet boy in your thoughts and keep those purrs coming!

Thank You from Yoko

Mom said I could do the post today even tho I am not a Mancat on Monday!  Sorry I look kinda scruffy - I don't groom myself very much anymore and I won't let Mom do it either! I am feeling much better - thank you for all the purrs and prayers for me over the weekend.  Thank you Brian of Brian's Home for telling CB about my trip to the vet. ( You can read that post here.) It made Mom feel better knowing you all were thinking of us.

I get very nervous going to the vet and Pop had to leave me there for a few hours so they could get urine from me.  I did OK but was really glad to see Pop again.  The vet was nice and said I had an infection in my bladder, some arthritis in my hips and maybe a heart murmur!  Mom wants to take me to our regular vet to see what we can do for all this but meanwhile I am on antibiotics.

I am resting a lot but am eating good.  Mom brings me food every few hours so I don't have to get up.  I have been snuggling on the sofa.  My pee is back to normal and I am glad.  I did not like to have to go to the liter box so much.  I will keep everyone updated when I go back to the vet again.

Mom is resting up too - she is in retail and worked all weekend.  She is wore out!  We will be by to thank each of you in person this week.  Thank you all again for caring about me.  We do appreciate your friendship!

Yoko is Home - Purrs Needed for Yoko

UPDATE - 10:30 PM Sat
Yoko is home and on antibiotics.  The vet was able to see her tonight.  Her urine specimen showed an infection but nothing else seemed wrong.  He said she was very sore in her hind quarters so perhaps it hurt her to squat to pee and she may have been holding it.  We have noticed someone is peeing just outside the box, like they backed up too close to the edge and went over.  It must be Yoko.  She was not dehydrated and all else seemed OK for her age.

She went right for the food bowl when she got home as usual and ate and ate.  Pop took the bowl away from her for while cuz he was afraid she would be sick from eating so much.  If the vomit from earlier was her, it may have been a fur ball cuz nothing seemed wrong with her tummy.   She went right to sleep next to Pop on the sofa and has been there since.  She is Pop's girl - she is the only cat we got at a shelter and Pop picked her out.  All the others found us!

Cute story about tonight - Pop dropped Yoko off and was told the vet could not see her for a couple of hours so he ran errands.  When he came back he visited the sick kitties and pups in the vet's office, petting them thru the cage bars.  One tiny fluffy kitten was wailing his head off and the vet tech asked Pop if he wanted to hold the kitten to give him some attention.  They had been swamped with emergencies and had not spent any time with him.  Pop put the kitten on his lap the whole time he waited for the vet to see Yoko.  He had a good time with the tiny fluffball.  The office cat Fred was also on the waiting room sofa with him so Pop got a good dose of kitty loving!

Thank you all for your prayers, concern and purrs.  We think it helped.  We will post again to let you know how Yoko is doing but the worst seems to have passed.  We were worried it was another episode like Chica had when she was in ICU for three days!  At their age, you never know...

Mom has to work today but Pop rushed Yoko to the VET - she had been trying to use the litter box, threw up and then was dribbling blood.  We hope it is just a UTI but at 18 you never know.  Please send purrs for her to be OK!  She stopped to eat -- when she gets nervous, she eats so we think that is a good sign.

We will have to leave her at the VET - they were busy with emergencies.  Will keep you posted.  Please send purrs and prayers!!!!!

Chica Checking In...

Since I am feeling a little bit better, Mom said it was OK that I did the blog post today.  I had a good night last night and sat with Mom while she watched TV and even sat with Pop this morning on the sofa.

I had to go back to the vet today for more sub c fluids.  I am on a tiny bit of pain medication cuz they think I may have mild panrcreatitis along with antibiotics for my UTI.  I don't like taking either but Mom gets it in me.

I am eating on my own but Mom has to put out 3 different kinds of food on my plate to get me to eat one of them.  Sometimes I take a bit of all three.  I like being spoiled like this but the other cats are jealous and they try to eat all my food before me.

Mom leaves the PTU in the living room with the door off so I can use it as my hidy place.  I like sleeping in here.  I really appreciate all the kind words, purrs, prayers and donations.  Mom spent alot of money having me in the hospital for 3 days in ICU having all kinds of tests done.  I will be going back to the vets this week for more fluids and to check my pee.

Since I am so old, Mom is worried about me still.  Please keep those purrs and prayers coming that I get better and she can stop worrying.  We will be sending lots of our own purrs for the many cats on CB that are not feeling well too.  We appreciate all of you and thank you so much.

Chica's Home!

UPDATE - Thurs Am
Chica had a rough night last night with more vomiting foam and crying but we got her pain meds in and she settled down I did have to force feed her.  I called the vet this morning and they had offered her 3 kinds of food each meal and she would eat one but not the same so I did that and she ate on her own this morning.  We will give her a few days to settle in and then we have to take her back to the vet for another blood and urine test next week.  We will just take things one day at a time.  Thank you all for being so supportive.  I am off today and will stop by to visit everyone.  Keep those purrs coming! (Rosa is doing better too.)

I had an out of town doctor appointment this morning and called about Chica as soon as I came home.  I was so excited to be able to go get Chica, I left home without the carrier!  When I went back for it I almost took Minnie with me as she had fallen asleep inside the carrier.  She came out unwillingly and I was off to get my precious Chica.

Chica headed for the litter box with Minnie right behind

Chica will be on antibiotics for 10 days along with a pain med - with sub c fluids twice weekly while she recovers.  Her kidney values are down  from a few days ago which is good. We need to go back next week to check them.  The vet feels like it is mainly a very bad UTI.  Once we are done with the meds, we will see how she feels.  If need be, we may go in for an ultra sound to see if her pancreas is inflamed.

Chica resting while Minnie checks her out.

The vet staff enjoyed her - very perky and vocal today.  She went right for the litter box when we got home and plopped down on the living room floor.  Minnie was there to check her out and I am sure to see if she could still nap in the carrier.  Chica will be tired for a while - this has been quite an ordeal for her.

Thank you all for your purrs, prayers and donations.  Brian's Home and Marg's Pets put up a Chip-in (I posted it on our sidebar) for us to help pay for this hospitalization. Bless you both for this. I am also dealing with Rosa who has a UTI also.  I will be adding more things for sale on my Wildcat Woods Vintage Treasures blog so do check that out regularly.  All donations and sales will go towards care for Chica and the other cats.

I consider myself so fortunate to have such great buddies as you all.  I know this would have been so much harder to go thru without your help. I will be by to visit all of you in the days to come. I will keep everyone updated on Chica's progress.  She is a very spunky tough old lady!

Keep those purrs and prayers coming - Chica is not out of the woods just yet!

Yoko's Trip to the V-E-T!

We weren't planning on posting until our big Gotcha Day/300th Post Bash on Monday this week but we had some excitement here.

On Thursday night Mom noticed our senior cat Yoko rushing from one litter box to another but not much was coming out.  She gave her a homeopathic remedy and watched her.  Yoko seemed to settle down and rest the rest of the night so Mom went to bed.

Yoko ate well for breakfast and had her usual bowl of water with a little milk in it  - she does not drink enough and gets a bit dehydrated.  After that Yoko started to try to pee again and nothing was coming out this time.  She was trying to pee on the bed, floor anyplace but the litter box so Mom called the V-E-T.  Mom uses a holistic vet if she can but in emergency situations she calls another vet that has all the equipment, lab etc. They were booked but said she could drop Yoko off.  So off they went and Mom had to go to work too.

Yoko still hadn't peed for them by the end of the day so Mom said to keep her overnight.  Poor Yoko - she is 17 and does not like to be at the V-E-T.  Mom called later and Yoko was resting OK  She called again in the morning and Yoko still hadn't peed.  They wanted to stick her with a needle toget the urine but Mom said not to.

By noon, Mom called and said why couldn't they just give her an antibiotic and let her go home.  We are used to rural vets who would just have called in our antibiotic to a pharmacy and we would not have had to take Yoko in!  City vets do it all by the rules. This place is open 8am-11pm so who you get as a vet changes each shift.  Mom liked the one on Saturday when she picked up Yoko - they had wanted to run tests, do x-rays etc the day before with another vet.  What did they find asked Mom.  I guess nothing really!  The vet said she thought Yoko seemed fine except for the UTI so we got to take her home and they didn't even charge us for the overnight.

Yoko is in a big dog kennel until she is peeing better - we have an open floor plan and have no rooms to shut her in except the bedroom and bath.  She seems content and we can see if she pees and how much.  Poor girl is worn out and just wants to nap on the bed.  Her pills are crushable so we can put it in her food - good thing cuz Yoko does not like to take pills! Pop had her on his lap all night while he as watching the game on TV.  She is Pop's girl for sure.

We are just very glad nothing worse was found except a bad UTI! Don't forget to come back by on Monday for party!

Thankful Thursday

Hey everyone...Only here. Remember about a month ago I had to go to the VET cuz I was having to pee a lot and was running around like it hurt? Well I am feeling much better but Mom had to take some pee to the VET to see if I was getting rid of those bad crystals in my pee.

She was driving me nuts...hanging around whenever I was even looking at the litter box. She got some the first try by sliding a saucer under me when I was peeing ( how embarrassing) but got it all mixed up in the litter. She tried everyday for a week. Some days I just would not cooperate and wouldn't even go near the litterbox!

Well yesterday she finally got some pee for the VET - much better than having to take me there again. Turns out I am doing better overall but still have a little bit of infection and some crystals. I hate the food they make me eat but I guess I am going to have to chow it down whether I like it or not.

Dr. Andrea said it was an ingredient called D L methionine (an amino acid) that dissolves crystals and to mix the food in with other food and maybe I would eat it. She is a cool VET - she does people acupuncture and pets, Chinese herbs and is an animal behaviorist too. Lots of degrees and stuff. Maybe she can help Al be a nicer playmate to us all. He can be such a bully! Might just see what she can do.

Anyway I am very thankful I am getting better and hope we can solve this with the new food. Happy Thursday!

Only's Adventures on Mancat Monday

Last week Mom noticed that I was having trouble peeing in the litter box so she called the VET right away. Our VET could not see me until the next day so we went to another one who told Mom to drop me off and they would sneak me in sometime during the day.

I don't go to the VET very often so Mom was worried about catching me and putting me in the carrier. I was such a good boy and went in pretty easily. I liked the ride to the VET and quietly looked out the window. This was an exciting adventure for me.

Mom hated to leave me there and told them to be careful since I was a feral and was not used to peoples except our family. Mom didn't need to have said that cuz I was so good for the VET beans. They needed me to pee for them to check my urine but I didn't and everyone waited and waited. They gave me sub-c fluids hoping it would get me to pee.

Mom had to go to work and I still wasn't home so she told Pop to go get me just before the VET closed. He went but I was still holding on to my pee. They had examined me and I was fine except for the not peeing.

Pop said everyone at the VET loved me - they said I was so cute and sweet. When they were feeling my bladder I had to lay on my back. My paws were up over my shoulders and when they touched my bladder it hurt a little and I reached out to grab the VET tech's finger. She just loved me for that. Pop just had to say he was waiting for Only and they all knew me! Finally the head VET had to stick a needle in my bladder to get urine. It didn't hurt and they found I had crystals.

I got to go home but have special food to eat to help dissolve the crystals and they gave me an antibiotic shot. I don't like the food so Mom is also giving me Vitamin C, cranberry extract and raw organic egg yolk in the food to help acidify the urine and dissolve the crystals.

Us mancats get crystals when our urine gets too alkaline from eating dry foods which contain grain and not much liquid. This happens especially when the dry food is left out all day for us to graze on. Even tho Mom feeds us very high quality foods, boy cats can still get UTI's so now we only eat twice a day and the food is taken up in between. We don't like this but since we are mostly mancats here that is best for us so we don't get UTI's anymore.

I am doing much better this week and can pee without straining. Keep thinking good thoughts for me to get completely better. I have to pee again in a month and get the lab results back. Mom says maybe we can do that at home and not have to take me back to the VET!

Yoko goes to the VET!

Sixteen year old Yoko who has a touch of Hyperthyroid (not full blown but running high) is going to the VET today. She has been dehydrated and not herself the past week. We need to find out what is going on. Purrs and Prayers for her please!

UPDATE!
Thanks for your purrs and prayers. Yoko had a long day yesterday and is resting today. The VET took blood - not easy with her. They had to use a face mask or hood to cover her head and then she was calmer. They gave her fluids, a vitamin B12 shot and an antibiotic shot cuz her gums were sore from teeth issues. We will have to deal with that on another visit. Poor Yoko peed at the vet's cuz she was scared - they cleaned her all up. We had to drive in a horrible rain storm and got soaked getting out of the car! What a day! We will find out the blood work results by Friday or Monday. Will keep you posted.

Minnie Being Silly

Minnie goes to the VET today - she has been having chronic constipation issues and we need to get to the bottom of this. Send her purrs and prayers that it is something easy to fix!

Update
The vet found all things OK with Minnie. No obvious lumps or blockages internally. Still need to wait for results of the blood test. Her litter mate Nick died of intestinal cancer so I am concerned. The vet told me to add up to 1 teaspoon of slippery elm bark powder to her food. I put 1/4 tsp in her supper and she ate it all! It is sweet so they like it. She has been fine tonight - no straining, crying and vomiting. Thank you all for your purrs and prayers.
