Tortie Tuesday with Chica

It is me today on Tortie Tuesday.  Mom has been real busy with all kinds of social stuff - work parties, dinner with friends.  We also got a new back door - one with lots of glass for us to see the woods behind us.  We got locked up all day in two rooms while the construction guy and Pop put it in. That was not fun!  I have been in charge of snoopervising all the cats for Mom.  I keep watch on things from my window seat.

I know I am very spoiled.  Being my advanced age, Mom feeds me every few hours and brings the plate to me whereever I am in the house.  I appreciate that but I do go find the food and water bowl on my own too.  I am still pretty agile and active.  I am going to the vet weekly for sub c fluids but I like our vet so I don't mind going in the PTU.  In fact, Mom leaves it out so I can go in it anytime I want.  It is a great place to snuggle up and get away from all the other cats.

I hope you enjoyed your visit with me.  I will be celebrating my 20th birthday next week on the 23rd so do mark the date on your calendar.  Big party, contests, give-aways and more.  After all, how many of us get to be 20!  P.S. Mom recently found a 27 year old cat that has his own Twitter account.  I guess I could be around for a few more years huh?

Mom here - I have been having trouble leaving comments on many blogs and others have had the same problem.  Many of you know Blogger shut our blog down not too long ago for 2 weeks checking it for spam.  Since then we are trying to be ever more vigilant in keeping spam out so we have left up our word verification.  We have tried changing our comments to pop up but some folks still can't comment so it is back to the defrualt setting.  If any of you cannot comment, please let me knwo via email or on our Facebook page  Cats of Wildcat Woods.  We will keep trying to find a way for all to comment.

Tortie Tuesday - We Gots Mail

Chica here - Mom said I have been feeling extra frisky these past few weeks - waking her up in the morning by tapping on her or when that doesn't work, batting the blinds with my paws.  Here I am with my nip mouse!  I like playing with this toy. Mmmm mmmm good!

Now it is time to freshen up after a wild game of nip mouse......

OK, time to get down to business...we got mail!  We won the first giveaway that Penelope was hosting on her blog Cat From Hell.  We got a great Happy New Year a print of a handmade painting and a fun meezer magnet along with a lovely card.  Since this is the Year of the Cat in some places, this will go up in a place of honor!

Hope you are all doing well - don't forget to help us find a home for Avon.  Her info is in the sidebar - pass it on, post it or tweet it - whatever it takes!

For those of you who want to help the animals of Christchurch New Zealand - Henry has a Chip-In on his blog for the local SPCA!  Even a dollar helps.

Tortie Tuesday - Holiday Spirit

It's me...Chica today.  We want to apologize for not posting or visiting for a few days. Mom keeps saying she has lost her Christmas spirit...and we have been helping her look for it.  We have looked everywhere but nothing has turned up.

Mom got a lot of sad news the past week - her friend Emily is very sick from her cancer treatment, Pop's sister in law Laura lost her Dad, Mom's Uncle Ray died and then this one sent Mom over the edge - her friend Nancy died unexpectedly from a heart attack.  Nancy was only a few years older than Mom!  This is the second friend Mom lost this year  - both from heart attacks and so young. Kinda scary.

Anyway - Mom is doing a little better and we will keep trying to find her spirit. Just remember to tell your loved ones how much you do love them, all the time, every day - don't wait cuz you never know what can happen.  Chica signing out!

P.S. Solstice Blessings to all of you - the days will be getting longer now!  Yay!

Tortie Tosie Tuesday

Guess whose cute tosies these are?  Give up?  Mine - Chica's.  Mom has been sad that so many of our older friends on CB have gone to the Bridge. She appreciates having me around so she's giving me more blogging time.  That's OK by me. I told her I am planning on being here for a while yet. I am feeling and looking pretty good if I may say so myself!

Here I am waiting impatiently for Mom to get me my food. She can be a bit slow to get my snacks and meals to me on time!

Been doing a lot of napping since the weather is a little cooler.

And our goat TV has expanded to squirrel, bird and pony TV! The goat guy traded in some of his goats for ponies and donkeys. They make all kinds of funny noises. If  there is someone outside at night they make a ruckus - good watchdogs. We are putting bird seed out now that hopefully the bears are taking their winter nap so we have all kinds of critters at the feeders again.

That is all for now. Oh and Yoko is doing pretty good too for 17 - she did have a UTI a few weeks back but a round of antibiotics did the trick. Thanks for visiting!

Tortie Tuesday

Hi everybody...Chica here today. I just want to set the record straight about me. I may be 19 but I still get around. I don't sleep all day as most of you might think! I love to play with my egg in the bed with Mom.

I keep Tabitha company and help her clean herself. She is still lonely being the last one to come inside. I think she misses her momcat.

I help Mom with the computer. I sit in her lap sometimes when she is working and help with the keyboard or I just snoopervise from the desk top. I like to lick her hands when she is typing (which drives her nuts) heeheehee.

I love to play and go to our toy box and pick out my favorite toy to play with. I like my mousy and the little jingle balls best.

So you see I live quite an active life for my age. I also like to watch the goats across the street and keep an eye on things outside.

Have a great day and please visit Gattina for Cats on Tuesday. Oh and Mom wants to thank you all for the nice comments on our blog's new look!

Tortie Tuesday with Chica

Chica is doing so much better...thanks to all of you for your prayers, purrs and advice! She is eating and drinking on her own and seems even perkier. I just have to make sure she is hydrated and that she eats well to keep her chronic renal failure in check.

I took her to a new holistic vet in the area. I had a holistic veterinarian for ten years before we moved here and still talk to her for phone consults but it is too far to take my cats for exams.

Dr. Davis, our new vet, is wonderful. Very much like Maggie was - her office is a big open room with plenty of couches and chairs to sit and lots of windows. The exam room is the same - very little machines and metal tables - just a braided rug and some comfy chairs and her desk. Dr. Davis took off her shoes and sat on the floor with Chica to examine her. Chica was quite comfy herself and checked out the room thoroughly.

After we discussed our treatment plans and what to expect from this disease, I had a big surprise. I did not realize Dr. Davis was also an animal communicator but Chica knew - she sat sprawled out on the rug with her back towards the vet. Dr. Davis mentioned Chica was very in tune with what was going on. The vet told me Chica thanked me for all I was doing for her especially all the research on the computer for natural treatments. I just about fell off my chair! I have used animal communicators in the past for other issues but was not aware that my new vet was able to do this. What an added bonus! Dr Davis said Chica wanted to tell me that she did not like the other cats - I already knew that! She would have preferred to be the only one!

My heart was so touched by this opportunity to talk to Chica. Chica also said that she was not planning to leave this world anytime soon. Oh I was so happy to hear that - my eyes welled up with tears.

We decided to give Chica vitamin B12 shots twice a month, 250 milligrams of vitamin C a day plus her Standard Process Renal Support glandular and Renalix homeopathic blend. I purchased a sub-q fluid kit to have on hand but we did not feel I needed to do that on a regular basis just yet. I hydrate Chica with water or Pedialyte by plastic syringe throughout the day.

Chica's spirits are high and she is enjoying her life and all the extra attention. Thanks again for all your help. We will keep you posted!
