Happy Father's Day!

Pop and Al

All us cats think we have one of the best father's in the world.  He does so much for us day in and day out.  Pop drives all over town to find our special Pet Guard and Wellness food in large cans and hauls big bags of cat litter from the truck into the cat house.  Pop is the one who can catch us when we have to go to the V-E-T and puts us in the PTU!  Now that he is retired,  if Mom is working, Pop will take us to the V-E-T.  He doesn't like to do that anymore than we like to go but it can't be helped sometimes.

He loves all of us and makes sure he spends one on one time with each of us every day.  There is a lot of us so that takes some time.  He helps Mom with the white kitties most 'cuz they share a man cave together (even tho the two girls Georgie and Smidge live with us too.)

Sweetpea hoping to get some of Pop's supper.

Pop will shovel snow to make a path out to the man cave and check on us in bad weather.  When power goes off, he even runs extra power lines for the generator. And every day he mixes Snowball's special food additives (to help keep him regular) into his food and gets him to eat.  We don't know what we would do without our Pop.  He is very special to us.

Wishing our Pop and all Dads everywhere a wonderful Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day!

A long time ago in the early 90's with Chica and Yoko.

We are very lucky to have a great Pop who loves us, feeds us and even cleans the litter boxes. He had cats even before us - White Kitty and Yellow Kitty.  Not very imaginative names but he loved them just the same.

Thank you Pop for letting Mom take all of us in and even move with us to a new town.  We appreciate all that you do for us.  Mom is taking him on a Garden Tour of one of the historic neighborhoods in Asheville - he loves stuff like that.  What are you doing for your Dad today?

Now for some fun trivia about Father's Day - did you know.....
Father's Day originated in America. The first Father's Day celebration (unofficial) was held in Spokane, Washington, on 19th June 1910

Pop shares the office chair with Darby.

The person credited for inventing the concept of Father's Day is Mrs. Sonora Smart Dodd, of Spokane WA,  whose father had raised his six children single-handedly.

It was in the year 1966 that President Lyndon Johnson signed a presidential proclamation that resulted in the declaration of the third Sunday of June as Father's Day.

The declaration of 3rd Sunday of June as Father's Day was signed as a law, and made permanent, by President Richard Nixon, in the year 1972.

In most of the countries around the world, like USA, UK, India, Canada, China, France, Greece, Japan and even Hong Kong, Father's Day is celebrated on the third Sunday of June.

Roses are the official flower for Father's Day. A red rose is worn in the lapel if your father is living, a white rose if he is deceased.

P.S. Mom did a tribute to Grandpop (her Dad) on her other blog. Go here to read it.

A Father's Day Tribute

"Any man can be a Father but it takes someone special to be a dad." -- Anne Geddes

Not a lot of guys like cats like women do but Pop does. We would like to thank our Pop for all the loving, care and snuggles he has given all of us over the years. He does so much for us.....he shares his food with us, has driven in snowstorms to feed feral cats, shoveling the snow to make paths for them to get around, has taken injured strays to the vet, built shelters for us when we lived outside, dug graves to bury the cats who went to the Bridge and every night before he goes to bed goes around and says good night to each and every one of us.

He helps Mom take care of us in so many ways and even though he kept saying "No more cats!" he accepted and loved each one of us that was added to the growing group!

He has his favorites...whether they pick him or he picks them...Yoko has always been his kitty and can do no wrong in his yes. She will lay on his chest with one paw on his face all stretched out like a furry tie!

Sweetpea loves to snuggle on his lap and seeks him out over Mom.

And Al is Pop's boy..he gets extra scritches and lap time from Pop. Al knows he is
special with Pop. You can see the love in Al's eyes.

Thanks Pop and Happy Father's Day from all us cats! Happy Father's Day to all the great dads out there!
