Thankful
Good news - our sweet Yoko is all better from her UTI - the new vet was able to get her over it and so far she has not shown any signs of it returning. We have been going thru this for months.
He tried Baytril since she seems immune to the penicillin based antibiotics. He also gave us something called d-mannose that helps get rid of bacteria in the urinary tract without causing any other issues - it is a natural sugar but is not absorbed into the body but it is expelled. The bacteria is attracted to it and latches on to the d-mannose and is flushed out. He is also giving her a maintenance dose now along with some high nutrient algae to boost her immune system.
So today we are thankful for Yoko's health at her advanced age of 20 and for all the wonderful Gotcha Day wishes Ivy received last week1

Ivy's Gotcha Day - Sept 4
Hope you are ready for a fun party! We are celebrating my 8th Gotcha Day and kinda my birthday too since we don't know for sure when it was except sometime late in 1998. So I guess that makes me 15!
For those of you who don't know me too well, I was born outside at my beans old house in the mountains to a feral cat colony in the woods there. Mom noticed me always hunting for food cuz I had just had kittens and was very thin and hungry. She put food out for me and all the others found it too so she ended up taking care of all of us. There were a lot of us and many did not make it past kittenhood. About half of feral kittens die before they reach adulthood. She never did see my kittens so they must not have made it.

Anyway, I was the first to get spayed, along with all the others. Pop built us a shelter for the cold weather and we all lived outside for many years, being fed and cared for by Mom and Pop. As we aged or showed signs of not being well, she took us in and cared for us. By 2005 I was the only one left outside. I had lived thru two hurricanes, lots of very cold winters and the loss of many of my cat buddies and family. When the head mancat of the feral colony Big Guy died, another big male cat took over his territory and was trying to run me off. I had no place to go so I would fight or hide. Even tho I loved hunting and being outside Mom knew it was time to bring me in.
Me when I lived outside.
I was very wild and would not let her touch me let alone get near me so when she caught me to bring me inside, she had no idea if I would ever adapt but I did! I loved being inside, warm and safe and fed. I enjoyed being with my buddies, Joey, Minnie, and Sweetpea. I love toona, catnip, cream cheese and all kinds of food and treats. I do have early CRF and am FIV positive but that doesn't slow me down. Oh ya, I don't have any teeth left either.
Playing peek a boo.
I have lots of fumy quirks - like I don't meow but kind of quack like a duck. (Go here if you want to hear that ) I bite at everything but without teeth it is not a problem. I love to play but get upset when others join in. I love Mom and Pop and would rather sit on them than anywhere else. Every morning when it is time to eat I go get Mom up by sitting next to her on the bed and quacking at her.
So in honor of me today's party will feature cream cheese, nip and toona! Have fun and stay as long as you want.Thank you so much for coming and helping me celebrate.

Two Spot on Thursday
It is me Two Spot today lounging in my hammick! Things have quieted down a bit at our house this week. Yoko seems a bit better from her urinary/kidney infection but will check in with the vet on Monday. Now Rosa has a UTI! And Lily is adjusting to being inside the house with the older cats. Her kids Tabitha and Woody do not remember her or she them. It has been a while since they came in. Outside int he cat house we are all getting used to not having Lily with us - Only and Smidge miss her most.
I think I will just lay here and use the cat tree for my scratching post. Kinda hot today so I am just going to hang out and chill! Have a great weekend y'all.

Catch -up
Yoko snoopervising Lily's kennel cage. (And bored)
Been a very long and busy week for us here. The beans had company in town for the week, plans to visit other people out of town, Yoko's UTI and vet visit, an unauthorized charge on the debit card (meaning we had to cut up the old card, order a new one and wait for 10 days using only cash or checks) and then a bully in the cat house.
Yoko is doing better with a new vet. He still thinks it is a UTI but we will bring another urine sample in this week to see if all the new remedies have made a difference. If not then perhaps and x-ray or another type of antibiotic.
Lily, the mom cat of all the white ones has been being bullied by Norm of all cats. He was one that was picked on by Al before we made Al his own room. A very bitter attack had Norm and Lily falling off the wall shelf onto the counter and then floor. Luckily no one was hurt but poor Lily was terrified.
We gave it another day but things did not improve so we brought her inside since we were down two cats (Joey and Chica) She has been in a large dog kennel for a few days but is doing very well when we let her roam the house. So far no one has done more than a hiss or swat. Her two "kids" are Tabitha and Woody but they do not recognize each other. It has been too long.

In the cat house all is quiet now - don't know what brought this on from Norm but he has tried to assert himself with Snowball who just smacks him or pays no attention. Anything could have caused this. Seeing another cat outside (like our neighbor Jack) for instance could set Norm off. Lily seems to feel OK - sometimes a sick cat will be picked on by others.
Yoko on the kennel cage - sorry Lily is blurry
We may take in another of the white cats if anyone seems overly upset that Lily is gone. Only and Smidge were closest to her but Only seems to have taken up with Georgie (poor girl). Smidge is on her own and may be the one to come inside next. Let's hope we have a quieter week this week. What have you been up to?
